Harold F. Eggers, Jr. Road Manager, Agent, Manager, Business Partner and friend of Townes Van Zandt For 20 Years. www.townesvanzandt20yearshfe.com
Harold E. Eggers, Jr. was road manager, agent, manager, business partner and most importantly, a dedicated friend of Townes Van Zandt, amd from 1976 until 1997, Harold and Townes were zig zagging across North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe, daily living what Harold calls "the ultimate roller coaster ride".
Townes was a very complicated and sometimes, perhaps most of the time, unmanageable. He died in 1997, like many of the most extraordinarily talented entertainers, song writers, artists, who chase their dreams and upon finding them are left with the difficult reality and question, "What now?".
He was an "extremely intense & creative artist" and during Harold's friendship and business association with Townes, and their life on the road together, Townes performed and wrote a myriad of songs recorded by some of the best know artists and entertainmers in the music business, including (in alphabetical order): Hoyt Axton, Bobby Bare, Guy Clark, Cowboy Junkies, Bob Dylan, Steve Earl, Rambling Jack Elliot, Nancy Griffith, Merle Haggard, George Hamilton IV, Emmylou Harris, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Norah Jones, Alison Krauss, Lyle Lovett, Delbert McClinton, Willie Nelson, Mickie Newbury, Robert Plant, John Prine, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Ricky Skaggs, John T. Van Zandt (Townes son), Jerry Jeff Walker, Doc Watson, Don Williams, Steve Young.
Townes was a prolific song writer and his songs were sung and recorded by both himself and the people listed above and included this magnificent list of songs from a creative genious.

I regularly sing and have recorded two of his songs which I consider pure genius, "If I needed You", "Pancho and Lefty", and I can only hope that someday, I might write so beautifully.
Townes was both a genius and troubled man, supported daily by his friend Harold.
