I've included this section in the "personal" part of my website, because ithasbeenabig"Wow"! It seems that without planning it in advance, I somehow ended up in situations and in the company of some unbelievable characters and have enjoyed every second of the experience.
As I explained in my main page, in 1967, while serving as a Marine Officer in PhuBai, Republic of Vietnam, I read a poem written by Jack London and decided that was the way I wanted to lead my life. From that moment on, his words drove my life.
"I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather my spark burn out in a brilliant blaze, than it should be stifled by dryrot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function of a man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them; I shall use my time." - Jack London
